How toppers learn English vocabulary (IELTS English)

Many students who attends competitive exams such as ielts exam commits a well known mistake. Learn at the last minute. This strategy works for a few subjects, but not for English vocabulary. For many students, English vocabulary is the toughest. They feel dejected and bored when they try to mug up the English words by heart without any reasoning. The reason is that they are unaware of the easiest method to learn vocabulary. This essay addresses the common mistakes that students make while learning English and how toppers handle English vocabulary with ease.

Etymology
Toppers learn English vocabulary not for the sake of passing exam. They know two basic principles about vocabulary.1) Words are verbal symbols of ideas, and 2) the more ideas you are familiar with, the more words you know. They analyses and learn English words with all associated aspects of the words and its meaning, including its derivation. They get the meaning of words by identifying the root of the word. They are familiar with etymology of the words, where they are aware of the Greek or Latin root that gives a word its unique meaning. With a meaning of root, a person can derive the meaning of atleast 5 to 10 related words.

The power of etymology is illustrated with an example. Dexter is a Latin word for right hand.-ous is a common adjective suffix and –ty is a common noun suffix. So dexterous means use right hand or skillful, as right hand is more skilful than left hand. Dexterity means skill. Ambidexterity means able to use both right and left hands. Ambi is a Latin word for both directions. So with a key word Dexter, we were able to remember the meaning of related 3 words.

It’s very hard to learn etymology in the beginning, but with time and practice, it is the most interesting one. You can derive meaning from the most unfamiliar word itself with etymology. Plan your vocabulary development two to three months in advance so that you have time to prepare properly for the exam.

A word a day
Ensure that you learn a word a day. Not just the meaning, but its etymology, history and usage. When you learn a word you will come across a set of related words which will automatically set in your brain permanently.

Read books with a dictionary
When reading books, note down all the words which you come across. Keep a good dictionary for immediate reference for meaning. This will make you enjoy reading, appreciate works of great authors and make you capable to express complex ideas with few words. Toppers learn vocabulary, not because of their increased memory power alone. They learn English vocabulary to think and express their complex thought process in apt way.

So follow what toppers do.

College Accreditation - The Legal and Quality Factor of a College

Attending a college with maximum reputation is a dream of every student. However, how can we decide if a college is reliable or not? College accreditation is the answer to the question. A government approved institution is the one we should trust, as only they are capable of providing us with quality degrees. Very often selecting a college online is a big problem. It is easy to get information about regular colleges. The situation is poles apart when it comes to an online college. We don't know where to look and whom to ask! Very often students are confused and may make a wrong choice.

Gaining the title ‘accredited' is actually an easy process. The college who needs to be accredited is required to register itself in an accreditation agency online. The agency decides whether the college is eligible to be accredited. The ironic fact is that some of the agencies are not accredited themselves, which obviously make accreditation they offer invalid.

The legality of the courses provided is another factor considered during college accreditation. The student has to confirm that the course presented is an existing one which assists him to move ahead in life. The course should get a job for the candidate or help him to even go for higher studies. The top colleges and courses will always be mentioned by a license board that is under the state. These colleges are trust worthy and can be approached blind-folded.

A student should be very cautious about who has accredited the relevant colleges. The online colleges can offer fake names to mislead the candidates, that they are accredited to some unheard of university. Do not forget to cross-check the details to confirm whether they are true. Many online colleges give convincing names which may make a student believe they are legally accredited. The names given might not even exist. One simple fact you can keep in mind is that there are no accrediting agencies with the word 'online' in them. They do not exist.

The best thing about joining an accredited college is that everything takes place in front of a computer. It helps us to choose our study time and save time on transport. Many take up online courses when they need a degree to get a promotion. Online accredited courses are comparatively cheaper than the regular courses. You can save both precious time and hard earned money. Reputed online colleges provide good study materials that assist the student to succeed in the particular courses.

Accredited colleges online provides adults too a chance to pursue a course without leaving their current jobs. The chance to accommodate work and studies without compromising on either permits a responsible person to achieve his goal. CBSE: Effortless Move Towards Improving Results

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is one of the most recognized boards of school education in India. It holds an important place simply because of the endless efforts put forward towards imparting a common education system in a vast country like India. The center has evolved a common standard for all across the country and is trying its level best to help education keep pace with the changing world without compromising on quality.

CBSE results (Central Board of Secondary Education) are declared every year in the last days of May. The CBSE board results are mostly declared in 2-3 phases for class X and XII. These phases are according to the 8 regions of Ajmer, Chennai, Allahabad, Delhi, Guwahati, Punchkula, Patna and Bhubaneshwar. As the dates for result announcement comes nearer, the anxiety level among students also reaches its peak, witnessing more sweaty palms. Not only the students but also even their parents face the same situation. In India, CBSE results are considered extremely vital. Not only does the entire future of the student depends on the marks obtained in these exams but these also help in maintaining the social identity of a student.

So in a way, board exam results prove to be a boon for some while at the same time they might be a curse for others. Afterall, this is the only evaluation system in the world, which echoes in social circuits too.

Keeping in mind the many social beliefs, the changing economic scenario in the country and driven especially with a view to avoid any future supply scarcity, the center has introduced a new grading system to evaluate the Xth CBSE results. This year the board will hold the standardized tests as the ritual goes but will give grades instead of marks. The evaluation will be done on the basis of continuous evaluation of students on a 9-point grading system instead of just one year-end exam. Sounds heaven, isn’t it?

CBSE has also explored a new way to give quality tag to schools, based on their results. The major reason for taking this step is that the affiliated schools come in contact with the Board at the time of initial affiliation, upgradation or renewal of affiliation only. But once the affiliation is complete, there is hardly any quality check on these schools. The only indicators would be CBSE class Xth results and CBSE class XIIth results, which were highlighted by schools individually and differently.

Therefore, an Expert Advisory Committee (EAC) will be constituted by the Board, which will choose agencies to assess and accredit the schools based on the criteria and fees approved by CBSE. In case a school is not satisfied with its assessment, the Board will only act as an appellate body.

The standards for accreditation will be a research-based set of practices and concepts that provides guidance to schools on all aspects of education such as academic, civic and social. The standards will be reviewed and revised periodically, and will include surveys of all member schools, feedback by schools which have undergone an accreditation visit, appraisal, relevant educational literature and in-depth discussions at the Board level.

CBSE’s online study program has also proved to be a miracle for students in the history of Indian education. With these online study materials and instant learning packages, students can study anywhere, anytime. It has made learning so interesting, simpler and convenient. With the help of these online services, students can also improve their CBSE exam results, which is the ultimate goal for any student.

These online study websites dedicated towards promoting CBSE have features like, solved board papers, practice papers, model test papers, online assessment facility and many more options, which can help a student immensely to score better in exams.

All in all, it is an answer to the questions of all those people, preparing for their Xth and XIIth exams, about how to get good results in CBSE exams.
